Today, we would like to introduce the latest development from our German partner KMH: the new Powder Coating 2.0. It is available in a colour similar to RAL 7032 (pebble grey) and combines several functional properties in a single coating, designed to make system planning, installation and maintenance easier.
What’s new?
+ Electrical conductivity¹
Conductivity is integrated directly into the powder coating. In suitably designed systems, this can eliminate the need for additional earthing clips and similar components, helping to reduce component variety, contact points and installation time.
+ Enhanced corrosion protection²
Powder Coating 2.0 provides improved corrosion protection compared with the previous powder coating, with a protection period of 7 to 15 years, depending on environmental conditions, maintenance and individual exposure.
+ FDA conformity³
The internal coating complies with the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for the intended food-contact applications.
+ REACH conformity⁴
According to KMH's supplier declaration, no substances included in the REACH Candidate List (SVHC) are intentionally used in the formulation.
+ Temperature resistance
The coating is resistant to temperatures of up to 120 °C and is also UV-resistant.
What does this mean for you and your customers?
Powder Coating 2.0 can offer practical advantages throughout the entire project:
✔Reduced component variety
✔Fewer contact points
✔Shorter installation times
✔Simpler system planning
✔Easier cleaning and maintenance
The coating is particularly relevant for applications in the food industry, air technology, milling, mechanical engineering and industrial plant engineering, as well as wherever equipotential bonding is required.
Powder Coating 2.0 is now available from KMH.
KMH holds exclusive rights to this coating from its supplier until the end of 2027.
If you require the conductive coating, please make sure to specifically indicate that conductivity / conductive powder coating is required when placing your order.
From approximately January 2027, the new Powder Coating 2.0 will become the new KMH standard.
If you have any questions about specifications, applications or orders, please contact us.
Notes
¹ Electrical conductivity: The coated pipe systems meet the requirements for dissipative materials according to IEC/TS 60079-32-1:2013+AMD1:2017 and TRGS 727:2016. Conductivity depends on the coating thickness and is specified according to the applicable KMH factory standard. In practice, conductivity must be verified using suitable measuring equipment by the operator or plant manufacturer.
² Corrosion protection: The stated corrosion protection applies exclusively to exterior surfaces and does not apply to add-ons such as flanges or tabs, or to moving functional parts. The achievable protection period of 7 to 15 years depends on environmental conditions, maintenance and individual exposure and may therefore vary. This specification applies exclusively to catalogue/standard products. Special designs are subject to individually agreed specifications.
³ FDA conformity: The coating complies with the requirements for the intended food-contact applications based on the available manufacturer's declarations and test documentation. The suitability of the complete system must be assessed for each specific application by the operator or plant manufacturer.
⁴ REACH conformity: According to our supplier's declaration, no substances included in the REACH Candidate List (SVHC) are intentionally used in the formulation of products supplied to KMH (status: 24 May 2024).
